Product Description
The Broadcom eHBA 9600-16i is the internal-port counterpart to the 9600-16e, built on the same 8th-generation SAS4016 Tri-Mode I/O Controller (IOC) and x8 PCIe Gen 4.0 host interface. It ships in IT mode as a pure pass-through host bus adapter, exposing each attached SAS, SATA or NVMe device directly to the host OS, hypervisor or software-defined storage stack rather than aggregating them behind a hardware RAID layer. Sixteen internal 24G SAS ports are delivered through two x8 SFF-8654 SlimSAS connectors, and Broadcom Tri-Mode SerDes technology allows NVMe, SAS and SATA drives to operate concurrently in the same drive bays, negotiating protocol and speed automatically. Compatible with existing PCIe SFF-8639 Module (U.2) backplanes and Universal Backplane Management (UBM, SFF-TA-1005) ready for SFF-TA-1001 (U.3) migration, the 9600-16i suits internal server storage bays that need dense, direct-attach Tri-Mode connectivity with no RAID overhead, backed by hardware secure boot and device attestation.
